Digby joplin said... From the moment I arrived the club members made me, and my wife feel very welcome and special guests. I was included in the prep of the glider for the flight and was informed that the glider we were going to use was a high spec aerobatic machine. The cockpit was fully explained to me and the sophisticated control panel was described in detail. Having had some flying experience I was able to understand what was being said. Towed into the sky to approx 1500 meters the tow plane was released, and the sensation of free flight was beautiful. John the pilot explained to me what was happening as we circled the hills looking for lift. For a short while I was given control of the glider doing simple bands and turns. Slowly we made our way back to the airfield and after a 40-minute flight a smooth if slightly bumpy landing was achieved. The views and the memories from this flight will stay with me always. I would like to thank the team at Canterbury Glider Club for their professionalism and friendliness for a wonderful experience. Digby Joplin
